What kind of "fair and balanced" reporting do you think these stations are providing? They won't take money to run an ad with a viewpoint they don't like.
"You were wrong about the weapons of mass destruction. You were wrong about the link between Iraq and al-Qaida. You lied to us and because of your lies, my son died."
How likely do you think they are to report a story representing that viewpoint?
And this is not a "fringe" opinion of one person. The ad has been funded and the viewpoint is shared very broadly. In fact, it would appear that not only are the facts expressed in the ad widely accepted, but well supported by written documentation.
But several stations refused to run the ad, in at least one case because there was "no proof" that weapons of mass destruction had not been found in Iraq, a representative of the station said.
A spokesman for KTRV, the Fox affiliate in Boise, said the station would not accept Sheehan's spot "because inventory is sold out."
Last week, KTVX in Salt Lake City banned the commercial because, general manager David D'Antuono said, "it could very well be offensive to our community in Utah."
